In fast allen größeren deutschen Städten existieren mittlerweile Verkehrsverbünde - mit einem Fahrschein können Bus, Tram, U-Bahn und Regionalzüge genutzt werden.

Was auf den ersten Blick ziemlich gut klingt, hat einen großen Haken: Im RegionalExpress, in der RegionalBahn oder in der S-Bahn gibt es bei Fahrten innerhalb eines Verkehrsverbundes keinen BahnCard-Rabatt mehr.

How that workst?!

A company called IGS GmbH & Co. KG from Hersbrück, Bavaria, owns an old nostalgic train, which they rent for touristic sightseeing tours. Often cars and locomotives have to be carried over to somewhere in the three countries.

And the best thing about it: YOU can get a seat for not much money!

If you decide to go on a spontaneous rail trip, you often have the problem that you cannot find out the fares of the border crossing trains in the online travel planner of the local railway companies (e.g. oebb.at or bahn.de).
